Optimum Blender FAQs

Below are frequently asked questions about Optimum blenders.

  • What are the dimensions of the blenders?
  • How does the hot and cold food preparation mechanism work in Optimum blenders?

Optimum blenders are capable of freezing ice cream or heating a soup. Hot and cold ingredients are blended at a high-speed speed while the six stainless steel blades spin at 44,000-48,000 rpm to produce friction heat. In just a few minutes, the food prepared will be steaming hot. Frozen foods are crushed at a quick speed, leaving no time for melting.

NOTE:The Optimum 9200A's capability to operate 20, 35 and 45 seconds is only available in commercial blenders. This allows the blender to craft drinks without warming the contents, such as smoothies and juices, by operating at various speeds and automatically reduce speed to ensure no friction heat occurs.

  • Why does the Optimum blenders not have glass jugs?

Due to the high speed of the blades and powerful motor, commercial blenders, such as Optimum, are unsafe is an unsafe with the use of glass containers. Spoons or utensils accidentally left in the container could be a safety hazard and cause the glass to shatter or machine to explode. High-speed blenders with glass jugs are not approved for sale in Australia and many other countries.

All Optimum jugs are made of commercial-grade, BPA-free Eastman Tritan copolyester material and are virtually unbreakable. The US Food and Drug Administration, CE, Underwriters Laboratory and the European Laboratory Commission approve all Optimum containers.

  • Will heating ingredients destroy the nutrients?

Contents are heated due to friction in Optimum blenders. Raw foods should not be blended longer than 2 to 3 minutes and vegetables should not be cooked over 20 to 30 degrees Celsius. Smoothies, almond milk and juices may only need less than a minute of blending.

Users should not perform lengthy blends, which causes friction heat to cook ingredients to avoid depleting nutrients.

  • What is covered under my warranty?

The standard 5-year domestic warranty for Optimum blenders covers all parts, excluding the bearings within the blade assembly. The bearings are covered for the first 12 months after purchase, since faulty bearings are discovered within that timeframe. Accessories are also covered for the first 12 months to cover any manufacturer defects.

The warranty will not cover damages due to misuse or improper cleaning. It is recommended to follow cleaning instructions provided in the manual. Those who are unsure how to care for the jug can contact our friendly customer support team.

NOTE: Do not place your jug in the fridge at any time.

  • How do I clean my blender?

We do not recommend placing the jug or lid into the dishwasher, as this may harm its components.

Perform the following steps to clean the blender:

For a deep clean, perform the following steps monthly or as needed:

  • Why is my Jug cloudy or stained? How can I clean it?

The minerals from fruits, produce and leafy greens can cause a film residue to form on the container. We recommend pouring one cup of white vinegar into the jug and filling it half-full with warm water. Let the jug soak in an upright, standing position for several hours, then pour the contents out and use a soft pot scrubber (do not use a harsh or high abrasive scrubber as this could cause the jug to go cloudy) to clean the inside of the jug. Be careful while cleaning around the blade assembly as the blades are sharp.

  • Why did my machine stop while I was blending a thick mixture or nut butter?

See “My blender won’t start. What should I do?” below

  • My blender won’t start. What should I do?

Optimum blenders have built-in protection circuitry that can be affected by external factors, such as power fluctuations, power surges and other factors.

Or the Optimum blender may have stopped because its thermal protector sensed that the machine was about to overheat. To begin processing again, turn the appliance off to allow a reset and cool down. The reset time will automatically be extended if high room temperatures exist.

NOTE: Check the overload protection switch on the base of the machine (pictured below) to ensure it has not tripped. If this button has tripped, please allow the machine to cool by following these steps:

Important Notice: Do not attempt to bypass these safety measures and simply press the overload switch back in. This may cause the machine to overload, including, but not limited to, smoke coming from the base. Damage that occurs from not following these steps can void your warranty.

NOTE: The cooling fan reacts to the motor, so the higher the speed the quicker the heat will dissipate. Blending thick contents on the highest possible speed will ensure your contents are blended far quicker and more effectively, less heat will be generated inside the motor and less heat transferred to your food due to friction.

In the rare event that following the above steps has not fixed your problem, please contact our 24/7 Warranty and Support Team at www.froothiesupport.com

Below are some additional tips to prevent your Optimum blender from overheating when processing thick mixtures:

  • Why does my Blender smell likes it is burning?

For the first few uses, the Optimum blender may produce a slight burning smell, which is the curing of the motor. This is from the lubricants used in the manufacturing process. The smell wears off after a few uses (between 20 and 50 cycles).

The smell may return when the blender experiences thick contents or is being used for a long period. This is typical with all high-speed blenders and nothing to be concerned about.

To prevent your blender from overheating and potentially tripping its overload switch that is located on the base of the machine, blend thick contents on high settings. If the reset switch pops out, let the blender cool for 30 minutes before continuing use.

If the smell persists after this timeframe, or you have further concerns please contact our 24/7 Froothie Warranty & Support team at www.froothiesupport.com

  • The motor base of my machine is wobbling on the bench. What should I do?

The jug will slightly move on the base when the machine is turned on, but a wobbling base can mean there is an issue with the drive socket or the rubber feet on the bottom. Contact the 24/7 Froothie Warranty & Support Team at www.froothiesupport.com

  • There is a brown dust/liquid on the bottom of my jug or cushion pad. What is this?

This may indicate an issue with the bearings in the bottom of the jug. Contact the 24/7 Froothie Warranty & Support team atwww.froothiesupport.com

  • I need a blender for commercial use. Which one should I get?

The two most popular commercial grade blenders are the 9200A (2nd Gen) and the 9900A models.

The 9900A is specially designed for busy juice bars and cafes thanks to its effective space saving design. The design also allows the appliance to remain on the bench top should you prefer.  The 9900A features five automatic one-touch buttons for milk shake, smoothie, sorbet, grind and whole juice/pulse.

The 9200A features automatic blending options for smoothies, which allows it to automatically blend for 20, 30 and 45 seconds.
